MMG750 Roll / Mandrel Gripper on Mobil Gantry

This mandrel and roll handling unit allows manipulation of heavy rolls in tight areas. The combination of a cantilevered arm and a heavyweight overhead rail system provides ease of movement with large area coverage. Several work stations can also be covered with this design. Difficult to access areas with overhanging obstructions that limit machine accessibility are easily accessed with this manipulator. Production efficiency, safety, and improved product quality are hallmarks of this unit.

A single operator can remove and insert mandrels with combined weights up to 750#. The cantilevered mandrel clamp mechanism and powered swing away arm feature will allow an operator to extract the mandrel from rolls, recore, and place in a winder. Air brakes allow the operator to overcome the momentum of moving heavy weights with no effort. More sophisticated units have air motor power with joy stick control. These motors provide ease of operation of heavy loads while minimizing the inertial forces of momentum with little or no strain on the operator.
